Ever since we moved our workshop to our cozy hideaway in Las Lajas, we've been on a roll with our pedal-powered washing machines! We've got the dryer almost ready for its grand debut, and our vertical washing machine is shaping up to be quite the looker.
This afternoon, we took a dip in the thermal baths to chat with the local ladies and invite them to our free class tomorrow. While soaking in the steamy waters, we bumped into several women who regularly come to the baths to do their laundry. One of them, Araceli, turned out to be an alumna from our bike blender workshop at Fun Limón three years ago! She's thrilled at the idea of having a pedal-powered washing machine right at the thermal baths.
The common gripe among the women we spoke to is that Las Salinas has a serious water problem. Most of the wells are as salty as a sailor's vocabulary, and buying water is an expense many can't afford.
That's why the thermal baths of Nahualapa are such a gem for the Las Salinas community. They're a precious resource that deserves all the love and protection it can get. We're pumped to install our pedal-powered washing machines and hope they'll lighten the load take the sweat out
